A Flyin’ Skein Groups

Fi-brrs every Thursday anytime – 9pm
The place to be when it’s cold outside, keeping warm with your fiber. This is not a class.

Christmas Club 1st Saturday anytime -7pm                                                  If you aspire to give handmade gifts this year, now is the time to get it in gear and either get ‘em started or get ‘em finished. This is not a class.

Sock Club 2nd Saturday – anytime – 7pm  If you are making socks come join in. Get a little motivation and chocolate to help get you finished. This is not a class.

Spinners 4th Tuesday anytime – 9pm
Bring your drop spindles or spinning wheels let’s make some beautiful yarn. This is not a class.

Class sizes are limited. Secure your space with a paid registration.
Unless a class is listed as a beginner class, all classes require that you know how to knit and purl confidently. New stitches may be introduced. Please read the policies that follow, thank you.

Policies of A Flyin’ Skein

 

 

 

  • Payment of the class fee in full is required at the time of registration.
  • Materials fees/kit fees should be paid prior to class. For other supplies required for class, plan to purchase them prior to the start of class.
  • Class materials need to be purchased from A Flyin’ Skein.
  • A Flyin’ Skein reserves the right to cancel a class up to 3 days prior to the class date. Of course, A Flyin’ Skein will refund your class fees should we need to cancel the class.
  • Unless the class is designed as a kid’s class, the minimum age for classes is 16 years old.
  • We request that you meet the skill level for the class as described in class descriptions.

  • If a class is full, we are happy to add your name to the class wait list. A Flyin’ Skein staff will contact you when a seat becomes available. We appreciate your timely response to class availability.

 

 
Class Etiquette

 

 

 

 

In consideration of your fellow students and the instructor, please:

  • arrive for your class on time and ready to begin
  • purchase all materials and do homework, if necessary for class, prior to class
  • turn cell phones either off or to a silent or vibrate setting for the duration of class
  • take any cell phone calls outside of the classroom
  • do not bring pets, children, friends or husbands to the class
  • refrain from wearing scented products such as perfume, lotion or after-shave.

 

Classes Fall-Winter 2010-2011

Beginning Knitting - If you have never knit before or knit as a child and haven’t knit since this is the class for you. You will make a dishcloth to learn casting on, knit, purl, and binding off. By the time you are finished you should be comfortable with the basics of knitting.

Tuesday, September 21: 6-8pm

# of Classes:One                                                                                                                   Class Size: 4                                                                                                                           Cost: $15.00                                                                                                                  Materials: 40″ size 9 Circular knitting needles, one skein Sugar n’ Cream yarn (light variegated suggested)

Technique Tuesday

Beginning Magic Loop - Eliminate having to change to double points when you have too few stitches to fit around the cable. You will make a hat on one long circular needle and learn how to join to knit in the round using only one needle.

Tuesday, September 15: 6-8pm

# of Classes: One                                                                                                                  Class Size: 5                                                                                            Cost:$20.00                                                                                                               Materials: 40″ size 7 or 8 circular knitting needles, one skein Cascade 220 or Encore in color of your choice.
